The Opening Reception was hosted on Sunday August 6th and featured poetry readings by Jack Callan and Sophia Terazawa plus music by Aline de Souza.
Light refreshments and non-alcoholic beverages sponsored by The Matrix Gallery, Fine American Art and Crafts were provided.
Thanks to generous sponsors, the following awards were presented $100 cash awards:
The award for Most Original, sponsored by The Community Foundation of the NRV’s Kolla-Landwehr Fund, was presented to Stone Crop by Michael Collver.
The award for Best Fit for the Garden, sponsored by The Community Foundation of the NRV’s Kolla-Landwehr Fund, was presented to Breaking into Garden by Robert Smith.
The award for Hahn Horticulture Garden Staff Choice, sponsored by the Blacksburg Regional Art Association was awarded to Tava Bird by the Textile Artists of Virginia.
The 2023 People's Choice award, sponsored by American Mulch & More was also awarded to Tava Bird by the Textile Artists of Virginia.
